When Viki Lee performs, it's about more than music. Her concerts and her high-gloss music videos are always all-embracing art forms in which stage show and wardrobe, lighting, make-up and music are precisely coordinated. With this audio-visual concept, the attractive pianist presents herself as a thoroughly modern classical artist. Yet she is far from being superficial. Beyond the luxuriant staging of her performances, Viki Lee is a seriously committed interpreter, serving music and the composers's intentions.
As a powerful and expressive soloist, Viki Lee cultivates an opulent and colourful sound, devoting herself above all to the works of Chopin, Schumann, Scriabin, Tchaikovsky, Bartók, Liszt, Scarlatti, Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Ravel and Debussy. But her focus of interest also lies on works by Rachmaninov, Prokofiev, Shostakovich and Schnittke. Lee has performed in concert halls in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco, San Diego, Seattle, San Jose, Tacoma, Chicago, Dallas, Pittsburg, Atlanta, Boston, Seoul, Berlin, Munich, Düsseldorf, Vienna, Amsterdam, Rotterdam and Brussels as well as in the most important and largest halls in Moscow.
Viki Lee is also active as a composer. Her own works, in which she combines the sound of the piano with electronic sounds and inspirations from pop and minimalism, reveal a clear influence from the current club scene. And that's no wonder, since Viki Lee is also active as a DJ who plays techno and deep house tracks at parties. Currently she is working on her first album.
Viki Lee received her first piano lessons at the age of 5 and started playing the violin one year later. At the age of 14 she toured the US, South Korea, Australia and Europe together with a church choir. She attended the Central Music School of the Moscow State Tchaikovsky Conservatory (piano class of M. A. Marchenko) and did postgraduate studies at the Maimonides State Classical Academy. Viki Lee has Korean roots and lives in Russia.
