Livyka Sokolov brilliant interpretations convince through individuality, powerful character, deep emotions and extraordinary taste. The young Moldavian pianist, who is especially devoted to composers such as Tchaikovsky, Scriabin, Shchedrin, Shostakovich, Prokofiev and Rachmaninov, stands in the great tradition of great Eastern European pianists. Sokolov is constantly expanding her repertoire and renowned as an important interpreter of her father's works. Stars such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Vladimir Swerdlow-Aschkenasi and Sol Gabetta expressed their appreciation for the young pianist.
Sokolov played in the Kremlin under the patronage of the Russian first lady, Svetlana Medvedeva, (2010) and in the International House of Music in Moscow. She performed in the Athenaeum and the Romanian Broadcasting Hall in Bucharest, the Coliseum Arena in Saint Petersburg, the Philharmonic Hall Sibiu, the Philharmonic Hall Novosibirsk, the Organ Hall, the National Palace and the Opera House in Chișinău and in the Philharmonic Hall Pitesti. Sokolov has been invited to the "George Enescu Festival" (Romania), the "Festspiele Mecklenburg-Vorpommern", the "Berliner Klassiksommer", the "Moldavian Piano Nights", the "Days of International Music from Moldova", the "Next Generation" festival (Bad Ragaz, Switzerland) and "Vladimir Spivakov invites..." in Minsk.
In 2010 she was the youngest participant of the "Menuhin Festival" in Gstaad. In 2014 she played at the finale of the “Eurovision Young Musicians” Competition in Cologne. As a soloist, she has performed with the WDR Symphony Orchestra, the Moldavian Chamber Orchestra, the National Philharmonic Orchestra Chișinău, the Moldavian Youth Orchestra, the Orchestra of the Moldavian Opera, the Symphony Orchestra Pitesti and under conductors such as Kristiina Poska, Daniel Manasi, Charles Ansbacher, Mihail Agafita, Valentin Doni, Cristian Florea, Igor Andriewskii, Mihail Secichin, Crispin Ward and Dumitru Carciumaru. Ilian Garnet (violin), Konstantin Manaev (cello) Cristian Florea (cello) and Gintaras Januseavicius (piano) are among her chamber music partners.
Sokolov was born into a musical family. Her father Liviu Shtirbu is considered to be one of the most important contemporary composers of his home country. Her mother Angela Sokolov is a pianist. Livyka Sokolov began to play the piano at the age of six and a half. Two years later she received the award "Debut of the Year" in Chișinău. Sokolov studied at the State Academy of Music "Ciprian Porumbescu" in Chișinău with Tatiana Sviridov. She won many international competitions and has been studying with the world-renowned Russian pianist Eduard Kunz since 2017.
